Ожирение возникает вследствие повышения уровня потребления калорий, превышающего расход энергии. Ожирение и избыточная масса тела отмечаются в 44% случаев сахарного диабета, 23% случаев ишемической болезни сердца, 7–41% случаев некоторых видов рака, таких как рак толстой кишки и рак молочной железы. Ожирение признано эпидемической проблемой здравоохранения, которая не зависит от пола, этнической принадлежности и возраста и поражает одного из десяти взрослых во всем мире.Вместе с тем выбор эффективных и безопасных средств уменьшения всасывания жиров, содержащихся в пище, весьма ограничен. Представленные результаты подтверждают, что прием внутрь комплекса натуральных волокон литрамин IQP G-002AS является эффективным нефармакологическим средством снижения массы тела. В настоящее время проводится дополнительное исследование, направленное на изучение поддержания достигнутого снижения массы тела.
